The Federation of Family History Societies has published the Australasian Really Useful Information Leaflet (pdf, 3 MB) which has a list of useful websites and a good starting guide.
For school admission research enquiries, contact Mrs Rae Wilson via email at email@example.com or via post to Canterbury Genealogy, P O Box 38064, Parklands, Christchurch 8842. Before you request a look-up we need some idea of where the family was living (electoral rolls or Wise’s Directories) and also the father/mother’s name, especially if a common surname. There is a 100 year closure on release of the records unless you can provide proof of death, so the child’s date of birth needs to be at least 100 years ago. Donations for this service can be deposited into our bank account 03-1592-0069021-00. Please put your surname in the Particulars, and Donation or Research as a reference.
